Who we areKalahari Energy (KE) is a gas exploration and development company based in Gaborone, Botswana and specialising in extraction of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) from coal. The company possesses numerous prospecting permits in Eastern Botswana along the eastern side of the Kalahari Karoo Basin. KE is still in the exploration phase, however, should soon be in a position to convert these prospecting permits into mining licences. Through mining legislation, the Government of Botswana reserves the right to buy 15% of the project at fair market value. The Government of Botswana has opted not to exercise its right to date, and KE believes this could happen once the gas field becomes commercially operational. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a self-sustaining US Government agency, has provided an $8.5 million investment guarantee to the Kalahari Gas Corporation (KGC), a well service company, to finance the purchase of equipment and the drilling of coal-bed methane wells. KGC provides the necessary well servicing to bring KE's wells into full production. |
